hehe, sehr gut ..
ja, das hab ich heute auch gelesen, wirklich gute nachricht .. aber es wird ja noch ein weilchen dauern, bis wir den film in voller länge zu sehen bekommen.
ach, und die schauspieler sind ja auch nicht von schlechten eltern!

GOLD COAST, Queensland (Hollywood Reporter) - British-born actor Guy Pearce, the star of thriller "Memento", will play the lead in "The Proposition", a historical drama written by rock star Nick Cave.
The film, set in the early 19th century, is "an epic Australian story about family, loyalty and betrayal ... a sort of gothic Western that is to Australia what 'Unforgiven' was to America," said producer Chris Brown.
While he could not confirm further cast hirings, Brown said there was likely to be at least one major British actor attached. Shooting will begin in Australia in six weeks, with John Hillcoat directing.
Pearce's credits also include "Two Brothers", "L.A. Confidential" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".
Hillcoat's other credits include "To Have and to Hold". He also has collaborated with Cave on various projects, including the 1988 film "Ghosts ... of the Civil Dead."

Guy Pearce dreht Gothic-Western
Alle Jahre wieder erlebt das Western-Genre eine große Wiederauferstehung.
Zuletzt geschah dies in Form der Comicverfilmung "Blueberry", mit "The Missing" und mit Kevin Costners "Open Range". Jetzt soll sich Guy Pearce den Revolvergurt umschnallen: Der 36-Jährige übernimmt die Hauptrolle in dem geplanten Revolver-Epos "The Proposition". Pearce, der im Thriller "Memento" beeindruckte und der demnächst in "Zwei Brüder" in die Kinos kommt, darf für die Dreharbeiten sogar in seiner Heimat Australien bleiben.
Die Geschichte um Loyalität, Familie und Verrat soll laut Produzent Chris Brown "eine Art Gothic Western" im Sinne von "Erbarmungslos" werden. Das Drehbuch für die im 19. Jahrhundert spielende Geschichte stammt von Nick Cave. Der australische Sänger veröffentlichte bereits einen Roman und zwei Bücher mit Gedichten und Textsammlungen, schriftstellerische Tätigkeiten sind ihm also nicht fremd.
Für die Inszenierung seines Skripts hat sich Cave einen alten Freund mit an Bord geholt: Der australische Regisseur John Hillcoat arbeitete bereits bei "To Have and to Hold" und "Ghosts... of the Civil Dead" mit ihm zusammen. Die Dreharbeiten sollen Mitte September in Australien beginnen.
Obwohl Chris Brown neben Pearce noch keine weiteren Darsteller für den Western nennen konnte, fachte er gleich ein wenig die Gerüchteküche an: Offenbar soll mindestens ein großer Star aus England für das Projekt engagiert werden.

THE normally quiet town of Winton in Queensland's central west has been temporarily transformed as some of the best-known actors from Britain and Australia settle in for the next eight weeks to shoot Nick Cave's epic-scale period drama, The Proposition.
Set in the 1880s and written by Cave, the $20 million Australia/Britain co-production stars Guy Pearce as one of three brothers wanted for a brutal crime. Pearce's co-stars include Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast); Danny Huston, who appears alongside Nicole Kidman in the upcoming drama Birth; dual Oscar nominee Emily Watson (Hilary and Jackie); John Hurt (Love and Death in Long Island); and David Wenham, who is cast somewhat against type as an upper class Anglo-Australian landowner.
Other Australians set to appear in the film include David Gulpilil, Leah Purcell, and Tommy Lewis.
Cave is not appearing in The Proposition, but the Britain-based Australian musician has been in Winton in recent weeks attending rehearsals, and will write the film's score once shooting is completed.
The film is being directed by John Hillcoat, whose previous credits include the 1998 film Ghosts ... of the Civil Dead , which featured Cave as a psychopath called Maynard. Chris Brown, who is one of the film's Australian producers, told The Australian that Winton had been chosen as the main location because "it has a certain starkness that conveys a sense of the outback".
Ross Entwistle, managing director of the film's distributor Columbia TriStar, expects The Proposition to be very different from the recent production of Ned Kelly, which failed to generate the expected excitement with audiences, despite its strong casting.
"It's not a traditional bushranger movie featuring men with beards. It's dark and brutal, but ultimately it's a morality tale," he said. |

Nick Cave has recently returned from Queensland Australia where his screen play The Proposition is being filmed. A powerfully gripping story that tells of two brothers in conflict. It has attracted a stellar international cast including Guy Pearce, Ray Winstone, Danny HustoN, John Hurt, David Wenham and Emily Watson. Set in the 1880’s, the film opens in the middle of a frenzied gunfight between the police and a gang of outlaws. Charlie Burns (Guy Pearce) and his brother Mikey are captured by Captain Stanley (Ray Winstone). Together with their psychopathic brother Arthur (Danny Huston), they are wanted for a brutal crime. Stanley makes Charlie a seemingly impossible proposition in an attempt to bring an end to the cycle of bloody violence. Emily Watson plays Stanley’s wife Martha Stanley; John Hurt plays the bounty hunter Jellon Lamb and David Wenham plays Eden Fletcher, the powerful local landowner.
The original screenplay was written by Nick Cave and is directed by long time collaborator John Hillcoat.
